A legendary for all, courtesy of Wrathion

It's confirmed -- everyone does indeed get a legendary, if they manage to finish Wrathion's expansion-long chain of requests. However, unlike any prior legendary to date, Wrathion's offering won't be a new set of weapons to wield ... and that's making some players a little irritated. Rather than the usual arming with weapons, Wrathion has instead chosen to give everyone legendary-quality cloaks, enhancing the cloaks received in patch 5.3 with some extra power -- and a little orange text -- in patch 5.4 WOW Gold.
Yes, some may have been expecting weapons -- but really, Wrathion's offering makes a lot more sense in terms of gameplay, balance, and possibly Wrathion's true motives in this little endeavor as well. In fact, the legendary offered in Mists of Pandaria manages to break every single perception we had about what a legendary is to date.
What is a legendary? Over the years, the means of obtaining one may have changed a little, but the general gist of it remained the same: an incredibly powerful item, not easily obtained, that provided the wielder with way more power than an epic-quality item. In expansions past, that item has always been a weapon, with one exception -- the Talisman of Binding Shard, a legendary necklace that was obtained by one person in vanilla and then promptly removed from the game. Because of this, the expectation has always been that a legendary must always be a weapon -- even if that's not necessarily the case.
So the big innovation number one? No weapon this time -- instead, we have a cloak with some amazing procs. By making the legendary a cloak, the class restriction for that item has automatically vanished --- and the stats for a cloak can be far more easily balanced across all classes. And for those that aren't a fan of the graphics, a cloak can be turned off so it isn't seen. While most legendary weapons are wielded with pride, let's face it -- during Cataclysm, I was terribly disappointed I couldn't transmog my daggers to be something a little less ... clashy with everything else I had on my character. Now I can show my cloak, or I can hide it.
Big innovation number two: Putting the legendary in the hands of players rather than a guild. Originally, legendaries were drops from raid content. This evolved into the collection of pieces that began with Atiesh in vanilla and picked up again with Val'anyr in Ulduar. There were several problems with this -- first, you absolutely had to raid if you wanted the item. Second, only one person could be on the quest and picking up the items at a time. Third, you had to cross your fingers and hope that your guild liked you well enough to allow you to get that item first -- or hope that your turn for the item would come up before the content was outdated and no longer run.
The legendary quest chain in Mists breaks all of those barriers down by simply putting the onus of obtaining all the pieces in the hands of the individual player. You don't even need a guild anymore -- you can obtain all the pieces in LFR, if you can't commit to a raiding guild. Yes, it does take time, particularly if you're hopping in on the chain midway through the expansion, but it's still possible to catch up and obtain it. Whether or not you get the legendary is entirely in your hands -- it's a test not only of your individual skill as a player, but your patience as you wait (albeit not-so-patiently sometimes, in my case) for the RNG gods to smile upon you and give you what you need.
But perhaps the largest innovation is in how this whole quest was handled. This wasn't a legendary obtained in a particular tier of content -- this was a sprawling chain that stretched the entire length of an expansion. Each leg offered different legendary quality rewards, whether a socket, a gem, or a cloak -- none of which were the traditionally expected weapon, but all of which offered a means for players to enhance their power in suitably ridiculous, legendary fashion.
In a way, Pandaria's story has been playing all along in its different chapters, but Wrathion's tale has been flawlessly woven into the whole of it, decidedly behind the scenes. And the fact that we're getting a cloak rather than a weapon is almost a telling nod to Wrathion's motives. He's giving us powerful items, but that last item isn't a weapon of destruction, although it certainly augments our power. It's an item commonly used for protection -- an additional shield against whatever the horrors of Azeroth fling our way.
This could be taken several different ways. Perhaps Wrathion, in all of his infinite wisdom, just wants to make sure that his heroes are well guarded against whatever it is he's seen in his visions. Perhaps he's just making sure we never have anything in our hands that could potentially be used to kill him, like the daggers that killed his father. Or perhaps he's trying to give us a hidden message -- that in some cases, defense is really the best offense you can have.
Regardless of his motives, the addition of legendary armor to the game has officially broken the last of the long-standing expectations players have had surrounding legendary items. What did you think of Wrathion's quest chain? Are you looking forward to your cloak? Have you been patient enough to pass Wrathion's tests, or did you give up on obtaining a legendary of your own? What do you think of Wrathion's final reward?

Patch 5.4 PTR, Tier 16 Warrior, Priest and Hunter gear set videos Updated

Our friends over at Adriacraft have been at it again, this time digging up video of both the priest and the warrior Tier 16 gear sets, with the hunter set to follow! What do you think of the sets? We at WoW Insider absolutely loved the tier 16 priest set, the clean lines and colors as well as the shoulders, particularly on the female, really got a lot of good feedback from our work chat! However, we weren't so keen on the warrior set, but some of us still really liked it.
The warrior set is lurking just after the break, and it should be noted that the belt is missing, thanks to missing textures, but you can definitely get the full idea of the set. We thought it was interesting how the chest is missing the kidney areas on both the male and female models, but what do you think of the sets?
Update: Adriacraft has now added the Tier 16 hunter set video, you can see it after the break! You may notice it looks a little different to hunter sets elsewhere, that's because Adriacraft managed to fix a bug which was placing the shoulders inside the body of the hunter before making the video!
If you want to keep up to date with video of all the latest PTR patches do head over to Adriacraft's YouTube and subscribe to his channel!

Community Blog Topic What is your favorite playable race

For this week's Community Blog Topic, we're going to talk about race. Which one is your favorite playable race? For me it's the Forsaken. I love how tragic their backstory is. I love the concept WOW Gold of a zombie race that isn't mindless. And I love their leader, The Banshee Queen, The Dark Lady, Lady Sylvanas Windrunner.
I really love their starting quests and I particularly think Silverpine Forest is brilliant. Everyone should play through it at least once. Even if you aren't into playing Horde, it's the only way to get the full story of the worgen -- which I agree isn't quite fair to the ex-Gilneans.
I also love getting into arguments about whether or not they are evil. As I said in that post, I consider them more amoral than immoral. I also think that Sylvanas's current way of increasing the population makes perfect sense for them. It's an excellent use of the otherwise unemployed Val'kyr and why let all of those dead bodies go to waste?
The odd thing is that I actually don't have any high level undead characters. My max level characters are a tauren, a blood elf and a pandaren. That's partially due to the classes I play. Forsaken can't be druids or paladins. They can be monks, but I hopped on the panda bandwagon when monks were released and didn't look back.
I have a mage who is closing in on 90, but she's a goblin -- having jumped on that bandwagon back when goblins were fresh and new. This is all guilting me into either playing one of my lower level undead alts or creating a new one.
So what is your favorite playable race? Is it also the race of your main character? Do you have several characters of your preferred race, or are you disloyal like me? Why do you prefer your favorite race? Blog your answer and put a link into the comments below or just respond by leaving a comment. We'll spotlight some of the responses next week.

Patch 5.4 PTR, A glimpse of the Timeless Isle

Patch 5.4 has plenty of new features to offer, but at the present time many of those features haven't quite been released yet on the PTR, including the Timeless Isle. What's the Timeless Isle? It seems to be home to the new pet battle tournament that was discovered, as well as some sort of temporary hiding place or home for the August Celestials as well.
You can't access the Timeless Isle on the PTR currently, but Adriacraft has managed to put together some footage of the Isle in detail. The video is after the break.
Please note: This post contains possible spoilers for patch 5.4.

    http://www.brothergame.com/WOW-News/Patch-5.4-PTR,-A-glimpse-of-the-Timeless-Isle.html#.UckrDdkgdOs
At the current time, the Timeless Isle seems to be home not only to the pet battle tournament, but the continuation of Wrathion's quest chain. Datamined quest files suggest that players will be sent to the Timeless Isle to collect 50 Timeless Coins on the next leg of the journey. Exactly how quickly these coins are collected is unknown -- the quest suggests gathering them from creatures and looking for treasure hoards -- but Wrathion does shed some light on the Timeless Isle. Apparently it's some sort of anomaly that appears and disappears at will, an odd island where time has no meaning.
What does this mean for players? Well, judging by the video above, it looks as though this may be another Isle of Giants, although with much more of a purpose. It's out of the way, seems to include flight paths for both Alliance and Horde, and contains a mess of critters and some world bosses in the form of the Celestials and one very angry yaungol. We'll have more information on this mysterious location and its purpose once it's released on the PTR -- until then, enjoy the video from Adriacraft and check out the gorgeous scenery.

WRUP, As a new patch dawns

A new patch is sitting just out of reach. It's like we can see the glory that is flex raids, but like a dog straining for that peanut butter a little too far back on the table, we can't grab it and nom it into oblivion. But that's okay: there's a lot more to the patch than just flex raiding.
When we asked our staff "What are you playing?" BUY WOW Gold this weekend, we also asked their opinions about the upcoming patch 5.4. After all, we're a news and analysis site: let's get a little extra weekend analysis! Read on to see what your intrepid WoW Insider bloggers answered.
Anne Stickney  Going to catch up on some writing this weekend, I think, and maybe play some games if I have the time. As for the patch, I am...oddly excited about the raid. While I've really enjoyed Mists and the pandaren and all that, I'm kind of happy to be going back to smashin orc and dragon faces in. Feels like a homecoming, kinda!
Chase Hasbrouck First bit of free time in a few weeks, going to pull out my old desktop and repurpose it as a home server. Fun times. I'm cautiously interested in the Timeless Isle things coming up, but that's it until I hear more about the new raid.
Dan Desmond  I need to find a new game to conquer. I could finally try out Borderlands 2, which I picked up during a Steam sale long ago and quickly forgot about (as is typical for most Steam sale purchases), but I kind of want something... bigger. Not sure what I'm really looking for, but that's par for the course.
The next patch should be interesting, the new raid will likely be a blast, but I'm not giddy by any means. Virtual realms, flex raiding, proving grounds - all things that I probably won't touch. Oh well.
Daniel Whitcomb I'll be hoping for a lull in all the people rushing to Silithus to get their Qiraji Guarding so I can get my own. I'm also going to be working on Northrend Mining on my Shaman so I can get my jewelcrafting to Cataclysm levels. Then if I have any time left, I'll run some old raids for pets.
As far as the patch, the Death Knight class changes have some cool points and I'm looking forward to a fresh raid. I'm not completely sold on the lore parts yet, though. All the cool moments revealed so far are Neutral or Horde-focused. I want some good Alliance moments. I also feel like instead of the Celestial island thing, they should have done something Siege-focused.
Dawn Moore  Aside from raiding, I probably won't play any games this weekend. I want to catch up on some shows I've been missing and visit with some friends who are in town. So I'm having a normal person's weekend, basically. Boring, eh?
Concerning the patch, I'm anticipating it like any other. The new features don't have a huge affect on me (my guild won't take up flex raiding and I already play on a monstrous, high population server) so it's not different than any other new raid patch to me. Still, I am curious to see if Blizzard can keep up this streak with raiding ... The past two raiding tiers have been fantastic and I wonder if they're going to go three in a row without another incident like ToC or Dragonsoul.
Elizabeth Wachowski I'm continuing my hiatus from WoW and also working nights, so at most I might mess around with a new Dragon Age play through or keep making my way through Dawnguard in Skyrim.
Joe Perez  got a lot of projects going on this weekend. Podcast relaunch, alt leveling, writing and more mini painting. Also started a BloodBowl league and match number 3 for my Amazonians is Saturday.
As far as the patch there is a lot of interesting changes for restoration shaman on the horizon so I'm really looking forward to that.
Kristin Marshall  Same old weekend playing schedule for me: Perhaps alts or PvP and then raiding on Sunday. I'm looking forward to the patch! It'll (hopefully) be a refreshing change of pace as far as raiding goes, and interesting to head "home" to Orgrimmar.
Lisa Poisso  No gaming for me this weekend; we'll be driving around in my husband's truck loading and unloading furniture. It's looking like we may be updating our entire living room via Craigslist, so cross your fingers for us that our deals will all work out!
Matt "Matticus" Low Time to bring up the ret paladin to level 90! Going to see if I can find some other raids for my alts too.
Matthew Rossi My new book is out (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DHMFE2C) so I'm taking a week or so to decompress before starting work on the fiction collection. Needs a lot of rewrites, edits, etc etc. We're doing some Throne of Thunder this weekend and my shaman is almost 90, so that and some Kingdoms of Amalur are in my gameplay future.
As for patch 5.4, I'm keenly watching the prot warrior stuff.
Matt Walsh Nothing fancy this weekend. Some LFR, some more valor grinding and hopefully capping. Maybe some Crusader Kings 2 if I have excess free time. I'm really excited for the patch, mostly because of Proving Grounds. Can't wait to try that out.
Megan O'Neill Same old, same old: raid, some Diablo III hardcore mode, and doing some summer work. I'm also working on redoing my UI; I feel like it's gotten cluttered over the last two years. As for the patch...well...so far it's been pretty not-awesome for warlocks. I'm excited for Proving Grounds and Flex raiding, but right now I walk around with a face like >:| whenever someone wants to talk about the PTR.
Michael Gray  I've finally started the Avengers Alliance game on Facebook. That's going to go rough for me.
Olivia Grace mage. Mage mage mage. Pyroblast all the things!
Robin Torres We now have felines in our lives again which means we're playing the Nibble Our Toes In the Middle of the Night game as well as the How Many Times Can We Say "Awwwwwwww!" game. Bonus: I can't wait for Virtual Realms. I really hope they make the cut and I look forward to hosting It came from the Blog events for a wider audience. I dream of a massive server, where everyone can participate except for the players who refuse to play Horde for a couple hours a month. What fun that would be.
Sarah Pine Either playing WoW or watching Doctor Who all weekend, probably. I've resisted getting started on the reboot for all these years until a couple of weeks ago when my husband suggested we check it out on Netflix and now we're both hooked. I hate/love it when that happens.
I'm not really concerned about the patch right now, it has sort of failed to grab me. But I'll be hitting up the PTR this weekend as well so I'll probably have stronger feelings after I play it a little bit.

Diablo 3 Xbox 360 first look colossus of Blizzard

There's a world of stats festering away under the surface, but what a clean, accommodating surface it is. A bar along the bottom left of the screen shows you which skills, spells and the like you've got mapped to which face buttons. Thumping a Beastman upside the noggin produces a spatter of damage numerals and a crisp status effect notification, accompanied by a telltale graphical flourish around the victim. Run low on health, and a potion icon will appear in mid-air above your Diablo 3 Gold, saving you the terrific inconvenience of manoeuvring your eyes down to the health bar, literally centimetres of screen estate away.
Click to view larger image The inventory is also a triumph of intuitiveness, making it possible to get on board with the game's labyrinthine levelling options in seconds. The console versions benefit from some controller-friendly tweaks: in place of the old lists and grids, weapons, armour and items are arranged in a circle and tabbed out by pulling the analogue stick.
Wish to apperceive whether something's account accouterment, after wading through bleared pools of abracadabra? attending out for a colour-coded arrow. The business of hacking and slashing has been fine-tuned with controllers in apperception. For starters, there's now an ambiguous move on appropriate stick. "We anticipation it was important to accompany that to Diablo III and it helped us break a few of the issues that were inherent with accompanying a bold that was advised for PC to consoles," explains chief artist Matthew Berger.
"For example, if I get on the computer surrounded by the enemy, they began to overwhelm me, I can pop a potion, click and tell my role will be in other places - click skills, let me temporarily invincible and I can do once, virtually all of the console, can be a little overwhelming if I had to actually move my character .. So breathing space to escape to freedom. "

Project funding is now making a greater increase, Berger continues. "There is a better chance of making back to higher quality, more targeted projects and I have been playing through the console version at home, I made a wizard I'm in hell, I was with my elaborate gear slightly uniforms, it's wonderful. this does not mean to give you some first volume is amazing, but the probability is generally very high. Diablo 3 for the whole match point thought

Diablo 3 for the whole match point thought so, either by nutrients reply active skills primarily DPS, consumption an ounce of prevention is worth a fine skills (rushing + strong breeze is this kind of). Or conversely, with consumption fine skills as the main output, so the new Build is Cheap D3 Gold coming. Match points according to the Diablo 3 Gold equipment, so first said the poor monk general condition: DPS is more than 50000, all resistance, armor are standard. Because of a few days ago a YanNa's visit this belt, to add the holy attack into 8%, so my match point skills can use holy attack as far as possible to use.
The first set of scheme, the anger + hurricane turn
The anger boxing storage fine good, the first strikes have a lunge, the most important is the holy attack with 100%. Hurricane diversion essence saving of the rune eye of the storm, their own is the holy attack, cooperate with the YanNa visited the Diablo 3 Items belt with overall DPS strengthen a lot. In addition, deal with remote melting fire is relatively active, not chasing the dozen, direct suction come over. For goblins also similarly.
The second set of scheme - mine energy + hybrida
This scheme mainly experience bell refreshed, the building Lord crit just 30%, use the thunderbolt vitality the accumulation of fine super fast skills, hybrida broken by reducing the consumption of nutrients rune condensing gas shock wave. Basic can do 2-3 seconds a hybrida frequency. The advantage of this scheme in innocence blame very efficiency, especially the swarms of white monster come, bell is very fun. In contrast, play boss efficiency as the above scheme, because the main skills - mine energy without the anger so strong.
Above scheme, truth doesn't matter which to use, look at individual. The building Lord prefer stability point, DPS also didn't strong to the second elite state, so use evade mantra. DPS high dignitary with conviction mantra of course more power. The excellency of passive also see individual be fond of replacement, because the two sets of project consumption fine frequency is higher, so the individual or recommended for use unique. As for D3 Gold storm strikes, the building Lord have been looking for individual instead of, but each time the replacement and changed back. Main strikes fled to freeze and melt fire, profane, cabala blessing too to use up, and no the viability sell at a discount greatly.
Sum up, rushing + strong breeze and the two set of scheme, the efficiency is the individual feels differences. The admiralty to boss slightly worse, the former two sets of basic in amoxicillin put out the first time before blackwater can destroy him. Recently many people recommend the class bridge the D3 Items fists, but the individual feels bought this fists will do bind died in rushing boxing in the consciousness. How much money, of course, it doesn't matter, each weapon can be to a. But playing a monk or diversification is not greasy.

Diablo 3′s auction houses back in bidness, gold duping exploit now fixed

Blizzard announced yesterday that Diablo 3′s auction houses had been put back online, after a gold-duplication exploit introduced by a recent patch caused them to temporarily shut up shop. The bug has now been fixed and gold trading is once again possible, according to Production Director John Hight in the accompanying forum post, which goes on to explain exactly what happened with the bug, and how Blizzard have responded over the last few days. Long story short: 85% of the illicit gold has been recovered, and all proceeds from auctions conducted by now-banned or suspended players has been given to charity. Here’s a relevant chunk of text taken from the forum post:
“Soon after the exploit was discovered, we contemplated doing a complete rollback, as was suggested by a number of players here in the forums.
“The vast majority of players did not participate in the exploit and we didn’t like the idea of punishing them for the bad behavior of a few people. A rollback would mean bringing the servers down for a lengthy period and a loss of all progression since 1.0.8 was released. Many players made significant accomplishments in the game that required time and dedication, and we felt it was worth the work involved to try to preserve these efforts and go after the exploiters instead.
“With this in mind, we elected not to roll back the servers in The Americas and are instead working to remove duplicated gold from the economy through targeted audits and account actions (as indicated above) without taking away progress that our players rightfully earned.
“As of this this post, we have already recaptured more than 85% of the excess gold from the accounts involved, and over the days ahead we will continue to pore over our audit data to reclaim as much duplicate currency as possible. We’ve also done a full audit of our code to help make sure that something like this doesn’t happen again.”
If you were involved in any non-naughty transactions during Gold-gate, fear not, as Blizzard promise “you will get to keep your items and gold, as well as any money you received from sales on the real-money Auction House”.

Diablo 3 for consoles may be different, but it's still Diablo

Utter the phrase "Diablo for consoles" to anyone that has some familiarity with gaming history and you're bound to hear some Sideshow Bob-style shudders in response. Blizzard's skeleton-clicking series didn't have the most graceful entry into the world of console gaming Buying D3 Gold, and after a disastrous 1998 PlayStation port Diablo hasn't dared to leave its PC home.
This year, however, Blizzard revealed Diablo 3 would make the transition with versions coming to Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One and PS4, finally giving console players a taste of the magic they've been missing out on for well over a decade.
Thankfully, Blizzard has been much more thoughtful this time about transitioning a mouse-and-keyboard-driven experience to console controls.
The console port of Diablo 3 doesn't simply graft responsive gamepad controls onto an unchanged PC version; and while the minor tweaks and changes may alarm PC purists, the small slice of Diablo I witnessed and played didn't feel like a PC game removed from its native habitat. Since your typical gaming controller lacks the precision of mouse-clicking, characters can now perform an evasive roll with just a flick of the right analog stick – though this isn't the only feature Blizzard added to make Diablo feel more natural on consoles.
Since players won't have the pinpoint focus of a mouse cursor, enemies attack in "waves," so to speak, instead of the chaotic clusters seen in the original version. Blizzard has even tackled the difficulties of adapting Diablo's mouse-friendly inventory management with a change that may alarm purists: enemies now drop fewer items, though they're markedly better than the standard drops seen in the original Diablo 3. And the game's console port now offers a new type of drop in the form of "nephilim glory globes," orbs that provides various buffs that can be prolonged if you pick up more.
Again, it's easy to see why these changes could strike Diablo veterans as sacrilegious, but the few minutes I played provided an experience that felt remarkably natural. Blizzard wants this to be an approachable experience for console players, and this intent can definitely be seen in Diablo 3's multiplayer modes, which provides up to four slots for any mixture of online and couch-bound friends; and should anyone go idle, they'll continually teleport to keep up, even while suffering the slings and arrows of enemies.
Above all, Blizzard wants to make Diablo as friendly to console gamers as possible, while still offering the challenge and metric tons of loot that makes this series so damned popular. And if Diablo 3 still feels too removed from its PC trappings, its console ports also offer the infamous hardcore mode, where death is permanent and regrets are magnified. With any luck, Blizzard's good intentions will have a whole new audience participating in what PC gamers plowed their way through last May.
